Happy Thursday everyone!!

As the week is coming to an end, I looked down at my nails and thought, dang! This nail polish held up really well! So I figured I’d share with you.

I am usually one who gets gel dips done at the nail salon. I love the look of my nails when they’re nicely manicured, but lately, especially while pregnant, I find myself not wanting to sit in the chair for an hour to get my nails done. So, I decided to revert to my old ways of trying out a few simple Essie nail polish options that I can use at home while sitting on my couch. 🙂

I picked up this pretty mauvy-purple-pink shade called “Eternal Optimist” by essie and automatically loved it simply for it’s name! Pink is my favorite color anyway, so I naturally gravitate toward any shade of pink, I especially love nude colors, which this one is not, but it isn’t so bright that you’re calling attention to your nails.

I figured I needed a top coat, since keeping nail polish on my nails isn’t the easiest thing in the world. I’m constantly doing dishes, painting different things and doing different renovations around the house, so chipping is an automatic thing usually on day two. I grabbed this essie top coat called “Gel Setter” and gave it a shot!

The formula of essie’s nail polishes is really nice in that they distribute evenly over your nail without getting clumpy or streaky, so that was a big plus. I put on two coats of color, followed by 1 coat of gel setter. My nails were not the best candidates for polish since I had just taken off my gel dips, but I can’t stand the feeling of how thin my nails are after removing the gels, so I needed to get something on them asap.

I’m really happy with the length of time I went without getting a chip, which was about 3 days, and considering it’s regular nail polish on someone who is kind of rough with their hands that’s a miracle for me! All of my nails are still painted, and I’m planning to reapply this weekend!
